Charcuter-bench feat. A Brie Brithday Cake
You may be thinking “what the heck is a charcuter-bench?” and “brie cake!?!?!”
When my dear friend, Kaylen reached out to create a charcuterie spread for her friends outdoor birthday party; we wanted to collaborate on a way to have safe, outdoor snacking with her crew. Enter: the charcuter-bench. We filled a 5ft bench full of delicious cheese, birthday themed snacks (champagne cheddar cheese, a brie birthday cake, cured meats, elegant crackers, fruits, and nuts) all bearing the Chicago weather in mid- February. This was such a fun creation and a fun way for friends to enjoy some charcuterie outdoors!
for events I like to make labels for all the cheese (especially if I am not attending the event) so guests know what they are digging into. Plus it looks put together & pretty
The brie cheesecake was such a fun addition. A easy way to elevate your spread and add a special touch. Adding height to any large charcuterie or grazing board makes it look great, too. Here’s how I made the cheesecake:
Bottom layer: Brie wheel
Top layer: double creme Camembert
Added on top: square honeycomb with gold candle
Garnish: blood oranges & blackberries
In this case, I created the spread around the events signature cocktail which featured blood oranges and bourbon. I wanted to incorporate food that would pair well with the cocktail as well as add garnishes that color coordinated. Blues (blue cheese, jam grapes, blackberries) and oranges (blood orange garnish, dried apricots, cheese colors, orange berry florals). As well as add a few special elements for the birthday girl (champagne cheddar, brie birthday cake, fig toasts, whipped feta with honey & fig butter).
If you didn’t know we also make wooden charcuterie/cutting boards! Visit our about page to order or our Etsy shop.
